Dwyane Wade pulls hamstring minutes into the Big Three's debut

By Kelly Dwyer

That didn't take long.

Just 3:17 minutes into LeBron James(notes), Dwyane Wade(notes), and Chris Bosh's(notes) first (albeit preseason) game as members of the Miami Heat, the incumbent member of the Big Three went down with a right hamstring pull. Longtime Heat guard Dwyane Wade limped off the court and would not return, as the Heat romped over the hapless Detroit Pistons by a 105-89 score.

It was easy to see why Wade may have pulled up a little lame. This is early in the preseason, a time when NBA stars and role players alike are hardly in NBA shape, and the first few minutes of the game featured a pell-mell back-and-forth style that seemed more akin to a wild All-Star game than a pairing between a championship contender and also-ran. The action was at a breakneck pace, and though Wade contributed (nailing Miami's first basket of the game on a fallaway jumper, picking two steals and turning the ball over twice), it was still a frustrating night.
